BIKE GODS Punctuality Standings

DEFINITIONS: For the purposes of these Commandments, the following definitions apply.

GOD

Any person, BIKE GOD or not, who is subject to these Commandments.

DEMI-GOD

Any GOD, BIKE GOD or not, who has attended more than 50% of BIKE GOD events at the time in question. GODS may acquire or lose DEMI-GOD status at any time in accordance with this definition.
CP = Confirmation Penalty. If a GOD does not confirm his or her planned attendance or absence at least four (4) hours before an event of which said GOD has been notified (as per Commandment 10), a confirmation penalty will be assessed. Confirmation penalty shall also be assessed for any GOD who does confirm attendance of an event, yet does not attend. Confirmation penalty will be calculated such that said GOD'S score will equal the current Loser's score (LS):

New CP = (LS * AP) - CP - LP
where CP, LP and AP are those of penalized GOD before the calculation. The new penalty will be calculated before or after all other scores for the event are calculated, whichever gives highest penalty and final score.
No penalty is given for absence, provided that confirmation of absence occurs at least four hours before an event.
In the special case that the penalized GOD is also the current Loser, confirmation penalty will be calculated such that the difference between Loser's score and average score (AS) doubles:

New CP = (((2*LS) - AS) * AP) - CP - LP
Additionally, any attempt at kurtissing around the rules, as judged by more than 50% of DEMI-GODS, will result in the same penalty.
LP = Lateness Points. The last GOD to arrive at an event and be ready to ride will be awarded one (1) lateness point per minute elapsed since the agreed meeting time. All other GODS will be awarded no lateness points. If any GOD arrives within one (1) minute of the last GOD, he or she will also be awarded lateness points. If all GODS arrive on time, no lateness points will be awarded for that event. All times are rounded up to the next minute. Whenever possible, official US time will be used.
Any GOD who confirms attendance of the event, yet fails to attend, shall be awarded lateness points corresponding to the time all attending GODS give up waiting and agree to commence the event. In such a case, confirmation penalty will obviously be assessed. As in all other cases, confirmation penalty may be calculated before or after said lateness points are awarded, whichever gives highest confirmation penalty and final score.
Under certain extreme circumstances, lateness points may be waived for the last GOD to arrive at an event. This waiver must be approved by more than 50% of DEMI-GODS in attendance and may be for any reason whatsoever. The waived lateness points will be marked like this for historical purposes, but will not be considered when computing final scores. Any attempt to abuse this provision, as judged by more than 50% of DEMI-GODS, may result in kurtissing penalty.
AP = Attendance Points. Each GOD is awarded 1 attendance point per event attended; unless the meeting place for said event is at his/her residence, in which case 0 attendance points are awarded.
Score (S) will be calculated using the following formula:

S = (CP + LP) / AP
The GOD with the highest score Loses.
All points and penalties will be rounded up to the nearest whole number. Only final scores will retain decimal precision.
No credit (negative lateness points) is given for being early.
Any person, BIKE GOD or not, who confirms attendance of any BIKE GOD event will be considered part of the competition, subject to all of its Commandments, regardless of whether he or she actually attends the event (see also DEFINITIONS:GOD).
An event becomes official, subject to these Commandments, when more than 50% of DEMI-GODS have approved its meeting time and location. If an event does not become official at least twelve (12) hours before its meeting time, all confirmation penalties for said event will be waived.
No confirmation penalties will be assessed against GODS who have not been duly notified of an official event at least twelve (12) hours before its meeting time. If notification occurs less than twenty-four (24) hours before any event's meeting time, such notification must occur by phone or in person. Email or announcement on this website is acceptable notification more than twenty-four (24) hours before an event.
There will be no winners in this competition, only Losers. The Loser at the end of an undetermined period of time will be subject to undetermined punishments, including but not limited to, shunning by other BIKE GODS.
Commandments subject to change without notice. Changes may be applied retroactively. Past 2 weeks, only changes which lower a GOD'S score may be applied retroactively (statute of limitations); unless extreme kurtissing, as judged by more than 50% of DEMI-GODS, warrants retroactive score amplification.
Changes in these Commandments require verbal agreement by more than 50% of DEMI-GODS.
