Renaissance Faire
June 11, 2000
On Sunday June 11, we headed out near San Bernardino for the Renaissance Pleasure Faire. There was lots to see and do, a fun way to spend the afternoon.
One of the great features of my digital camera is its panorama mode, which allows you to take several adjacent pictures and stitch them together on your computer to create a panorama picture. This one gives a nice 360-degree view of one corner of the faire. |

At various times throughout the day, certain events happen that are centered around the Queen. This is the first, the procession through the entire faire grounds. |

The Mud Show was very entertaining. Billy Billy vonBilly and Bob the Beggar divided the audience into two sides (Troy and Sparta) and had a competition representing their respective sides. Each performer had to do disgusting things in the mud and the loser had to eat mud. The whole thing was very funny. |

Towards the end of the day we participated in the Rat Race. There was a booth with a big maze tilted up slightly so you could see what was going on. At the bottom were 5 little boxes with doors, each to hold a rat before the race. Before the race, you got to pick your rat out of a cage. Mine had nearly climbed out of the cage, so I figured he was a good bet to win the race. When they blew the horn, each contestant would pull a rope that opened his or her box, letting the rats out. They were very well trained, taking about 10 seconds to finish the race. Bev's rat won, so she got this carved wooden medallion. Mine was dead last, though I must give him credit: he nearly climbed over 2 other rats to get into third place. All I (and the other 3 contestants) got was this stupid ribbon... |
